Day 7: Bath, Lacock, Avebury, Uffington

Since we weren't finished with Bath, we were up this morning and on our way to visit the Royal Crescent. It's an 18th century Georgian style residential road. Fancy pants livin'!
What a beautiful day.
My favorite family picture:

A much happier Tessa favored us at the Jane Austen Centre. Here you could buy anything from mugs to pencils with "I *heart* Darcy" on it. The girls went through the Centre together, and although it wasn't exactly her home with her stuff, it was still fun to gain some insight on Miss Austin's life and also her time spent in Bath.
Back with the boys and ready to rumble. The city of Lacock was next on the list. The National Trust owns this very cool city. I could not help marveling at the fact that people actually live here.
Several movies have been filmed here, but notably for me are Cranford and Harry Potter bits.

After a treat and a stroll, we were on to Avebury. Avebury has the largest stone circle in Europe, which they figure was constructed around 2600BC. Several stones are missing and were obviously used in buildings very nearby, but you still get the big picture with what is left, along with the banks and ditches.

The ladies are solid. Solid as a rock!
Do you like how I copied Jake's pose so we could be Olan Mills mirrored? Me too.

Apparently the Red Lion Pub is supposed to be haunted. So this is us. Haunting.
Be afraid.
Then on to Uffington to see the prehistoric White Horse! (I'm telling you I'm blown away by how much we were able to see in such a short time.)
We hiked on up to see the horse figure and where the Uffington castle was once upon a time. They figure it was probably made of timber, which would be why it didn't last quite as long as some others, but the surrounding barrows gave an idea of the castle's size.

Dragon Hill --where St. George slayed the dragon. That ticked off dragon let loose some fire on the hill and made it so no grass ever grew back before he kicked the bucket. The girls loved the story about St. George, and I loved Ashley's version where she emphasized George's great decision skills that came as a result of following what his parents taught him.
Cole was definitely on the tired side, but still a trooper.
After getting dinner, we ended the day wiped out at the hotel in Stratford.

LOVE the haunting faces! Especially yours :) It all looks so beautiful! Also, I loved your favorite 'family picture' where Tessa is turned away at the pole. So funny! And if there's a family vacation, there's going to be a pouting child every once in a while. It's inevitable.
