Happy 1st Birthday, Bub!

Cole turned one last week! We are so lucky to have this happy skinny kid in our family.
We had a very low key celebration and had friends over for pizza and cupcakes.
He was more interested in the candy sprinkles than the cake and spent a lot of time picking them off and eating them one by one. Eat the cake already! That's fudge frosting, kid!

He may not have eaten a lot of the cake, but demolish it, he did. Then he searched for more candy sprinkles to pick out and eat.
The grams sent presents. Love those grandparents!
And love those friends!

So, Cole's year checkup? Sigh. He's really skinny. Soooooo, the docs want me to take him to a GI specialist. I don't know how I feel about that. He's healthy in every aspect except heaviness. I don't know why he's not gaining weight as quickly as he's supposed to. He was a hair away from 19 pounds when he weighed in, which puts him in the 4th percentile, but is still in the 70th percentile for height.

I think I would have been panicking had he been my first child. I'm not panicking with him, though. He's a happy, well rested, active, good eating, diaper filling one year old. We'll get it figured out.......and I'll do my research on how a GI specialist could be of any help....

Putting that aside, HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KIDDO!

It is so fun to hear him jabber. He got an Elmo phone for his birthday, and when his sister hasn't run away with it, it's fun to watch him try to get it by his ear and talk. He gets so excited about balls --it doesn't matter what sport style or size-- and he likes to play "catch" with them. He will roll them to you and expect you to promptly roll it back so the game can continue. His kisses are still the best, and his back patting hugs make me melt.

Happy Birthday, Cole! And good for you Maren! Don't worry about a skinny kid. Both of my boys were skinny to the max and I have a couple of grandsons that are sticks! But, hey! No worries! They're all happy and smart and healthy and beautiful!!!!!

I read your blog...hope that is okay! So my 2 year old is very light as well. I don't let it get to me because she is active, happy, healthy, and eats. Don't let the docs scare your or make you feel like you have to do something you don't want to. Cole is adorable! You can check out my blog, just email me. littleajax@msn.com

Wow, I can't believe he is a year old already! He is a cutie. I say trust your Mom instincts about his weight. Some kids are just tall and skinny and he is healthy and happy.

He's darling! Happy Birthday Cole! Maren, I have skinny kids too! Neither one of my boys weighed 20 lbs. when they turned one. Andrew is 3 and only weighs 27 lbs. They worried with Evan, but not with Drew. They could see it was just genes when it came through in both kids. Anyway, hope that makes you feel better. He's so handsome and I agree, I'm sure he's just fine!

What a cute little guy...isn't life divine when there's a little one in the house!

If it makes you feel any better he is a little over two pounds heavier than Hayden was at 1 year. The docs told us to try and get more calories in him, but since he was happy, and active they said not to worry about it too much. He is still a stick, but has tons of energy, so he must be getting enough.

Thanks for the ecouragement, everyone. I am going to give it a little longer before I contact the GI-Joe --which is what I felt I should do, and now I am more confident about it.
