Etc.

The Texas Half Marathon. He lived! I was really proud of him for finishing, especially considering his crazy schedule as of late. Next year he's got some serious goals for this one --like not wanting to chop his feet off after he's done. Tessa and I ran the 5k. While watching for her daddy, she got caught up in the excitement near the finish line and would run back and forth with her arms tucked up by her chest yelling, "Go, Tessa, go!"

Last month, Jake and I were given tickets to the Jazz vs. Mavericks game. The tickets were in the "platinum" section. Needless to say, I felt like an outsider. I was surprised by the restaurant/lounge type atmosphere where our tickets
led. Couches? Buffets? Nicely decorated bathrooms? What in the world? Hot dogs in the nose bleed section, that's what I know.

Go Mazz! Go Javs! That's what I should have been yelling. I just really enjoy the energy and the atmosphere at places like this. I cheer for everyone. Mainly I like to people watch. Jake brought his binoculars. Perfect. The white pony tailed man in the lime green suit near the floor was my favorite.
Big dates with my hub are few and far between these days, but I sure enjoy them.

Did I carry on the tradition I started last year for Valentine's Day? Yep. I sure did. I'm not a fan of Valentine's Day if you know me at all --well, except for the chocolate. I just don't really get it. However, I think this is fun. I count it as the Valentine to my family. This year's "hearty" menu? Heart shaped mini meatloaves, heart shaped garlic bread, gotta throw in the token hearts of Romaine Caesar salad, heart cut strawberries, milk?, and heart shaped brownies for dessert. Ta da!
Here's Tessa showing off her strawberries.
Something funny that happened a few nights ago... In the middle of the night I heard a terrified sounding crying coming from Tessa. I flew out of the bed since it sounded serious. I opened her door, and in the pitch dark, I let her know it was me coming in. I didn't see her sitting up or anything, so I reached down into her crib. She whined, while still asleep, in the saddest voice, "My cookie. My cookie."
I stroked her face and said, "I know, sweetie," and she was back to quietly sleeping. Monsters? Bring 'em on. Just don't take my kid's cookie.

Maren, that is the cutest Valentine's dinner ever! What do you mean you don't get it? I don't really either, but that was the cutest dinner! And that Tessa sure is a cutie!

I think that maybe I am stealing your idea for next year. Just to give you a heads up.

I saw Marie at the gym after a drill team practice. A DRILL TEAM PRACTICE! Yeah, I'm doing the alumni dance. And I'm the fattest ass there. When I saw Marie, it reminded me of this:

"If you do once, good...then you don't have to do it again."

Oh am I jealous of your tickets to that game! Looks like you had lots of fun. And the Valentines day meal.... AWESOME! Tessa is such a funny girl, I love the little stories you post of her. She must love those cookies.
And for my pictures, its ALL the camera. I take 100 shots and ten look good. Thank goodness for photoshop!

Oh, now, I'm sorely disappointed that your milk wasn't heart-shaped. I expected more from you! :-)
That's cool that you guys ran the 5K. I told Jonathan I want to do that with him for the USG, and he said he's never run that far before in his life.???? Now I can tell him that your little toddler did it!
Oh, and I love "rockin' fetus." LOL

I too am not a big fan of Valentine's Day. Wes was out of town this year so it was just me and the kids, we made valentine's for everyone and they are still sitting on my counter waiting to be mailed. So you can really see how much I like it. Props for your dinner and the effort you put forth. Wahoo on the run!!

Maren, I love the Valentine's dinner idea--so cute and fun! I actually wanted to ask you if you have a recipe that I think is your mom's--do you know of an Almond Toffee Bars recipe? It's like almond flavoring in chocolate chip cookie bars with a glaze over it. I think I got the recipe from Mandy when we were Beehives and now I can't find it!!! If you have it, I would love to get it from you--thanks, Kelli.

Hooray! He did it! Tell me all about it, I am dying to know what he thought. I think I was almost as sore after my 1/2 as I was after the full. I pushed my time on the half and it was mostly downhill. What a high. Cute Tessa, fabulous Valentines, and a fun date night!
