Rocktober

1. I love October. I have so many great memories associated with it. It is my favorite month by far. Sure it's about 90 degrees here, but it is STILL fall! I love harvest decorations and autumn foods, and I really love Halloween. I plan on celebrating it all month long. 2. This was conference weekend. My heart is full, and my spirit is renewed. How grateful I am to have heard what I needed to hear.

3. We had friends over for soup, rolls, and wassail. It got loud --the happy kind of loud. Good food and good company, you can't ask for anything better than that.

4. Something that didn't rock: I went grocery shopping at Walmart on Saturday night. What was I thinking?! I call Walmart the necessary evil. Ask me about it sometime if you need an explanation.

5. It's getting cool enough to run outside again. Send us your motivational and positive telepathic thoughts. We can do it!

6. Two October memories:

a. My mom used to take my siblings and me to a haunted house every year and let us invite a friend. I took Erica every year because she loved those haunted houses as much as my family did. The March of Dimes haunted house was usually the one of choice. My dad never came because, well, he hates all the scary jumping out associated with Halloween. We would go to a donut shop afterward to laugh about what we'd seen and what it took for us to get away from the chainsaw man.

b. I checked one of my journals today (from back in college when I was good enough to write in them). So here is a summary list and look back: Saturday, October 4, 1997 -Freshman year. Leftover pancakes yum, conference in the morning, football halftime dance performance in the afternoon, ugly red velvet costumes, SUU football got walloped (like usual), roomies headed out for Vegas, dressed up on the side of glittery, Coca Cola store fun, laughed and laughed with Ashley (like usual), and got back in the early morning.

ah, we'll add c. Jake and I had our first real date the Friday before conference in 2003. We doubled with friends Katie and Ted and went to see Man of La Mancha at Hale Center in Orem. And we all know what direction that date took us.

7. Tessa had us laughing so hard tears were on their way. I was singing KC and the Sunshine Band's song "Shake Your Booty" the other day during an impromptu dance with the kid. The chorus isn't hard to pick up. She sang it a few times from then on, but it was an all out show this morning. Jake brought Tessa in to get me out of bed, and that's when the concert started. I should also add that she'd been going for quite some time before the camera appeared. I am envious of that energy. I apologize for the dark video, and Jake apologizes for his clothes on top of the hamper instead of inside. :) Anyway, it was a fantastic way to start the day.

I agree with you, October (and Fall in general) is the best. I love the colors and the holidays and eating soup and feeling kind of chilly from the nip in the air...It is definitely my favorite time of year.

We love Halloween (and fall in general) so much that we put our decorations up in the middle of September. Rilie turns 8 on the 23rd, just one more reason for celebration. I cannot believe how cute Tessa is. Although, it would have been that much better if Jake had caught a candid shot of you dancing with her!
